Carl Corry is executive producer of News 12 Interactive, overseeing the group's Web and TV operations.
Previously, he was editor of Long Island Business News, where he bolstered the paper's reputation as a must-read source for local business news in print, as well as with its groundbreaking e-newsletter, The Flash Report.
Before that, Corry served as LIBN's managing editor after starting as a reporter covering a variety of beats for the paper.
In between, he was a spot news and Internet reporter for Marketwatch.com, and has freelanced for such major dailies as the New York Post and Newsday.
A former three-term president of Press Club of Long Island, the local chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, Corry helped boost the club’s membership by 50 percent while earning it national recognition as a model journalism advocacy group.
Corry recently completed a two-year term on SPJ’s national
board, and currently is a board member of the Buskin Committee for Campus Journalism,
a group that fosters excellence in journalism at
A 1996 Stony Brook graduate, Corry has won awards for deadline writing, business reporting and editorial writing.
In 2005, he was awarded PCLI’s Phil Spahn Award for outstanding service to the club, and in 2006 was named SPJ's Regional Director of the Year for his role in conducting an extensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the ouster of a journalism advisor at Ocean County College in New Jersey.
He is also a member of the Energeia Partnership, a regional stewardship group.
